About Face Competition

Unbuilt: Hypothetical Site, Eastern Melbourne, Victoria

This was a competition entry for the brick industry wherein we chose to design a Park and Ride Bus station.

The loop is our chosen metaphor for the building: reinforcing ideas about sustainable living; Closing the loop. The gesture of the loop becomes the symbol for the public transport hub that can be deployed across the city, creating a series of public transport loops that are both easily recognisable and promote the journey on public transport as a looped experience.

The formal solution has been to create a building as a Möbius strip that has movement in perpetuity. We have made bricks fly in a helical structure.
