A-Frame House
Point Lonsdale, Victoria
This coastal house, situated in Point Lonsdale, is a renovation of a 1960s ‘A-Frame’ house. The decision to keep the underlying structure of the house and stretch the sides was driven by environmental, financial and nostalgic reasons. The existing house was West-facing and overlooked the road. The plan was reoriented so that all large windows face North and open out onto the garden spaces.
The compact two-bedroom weekender became an expansive four-bedroom holiday destination. The form responds poetically to its coastal location of Port Phillips Heads; this house could be just another ship passing by.
